January Photos and Update from GLA

Dear Phil & Angie,

I hope that your New Year 2007 has been thus far full of joy and laughter and that being the year you are united with your second son it will be full of much more than you have ever known before!

Ronaldo is healthy and doing very well. He has not been sick at all nor on any medications. He has a great appetite, is full of energy, playing hard, and sleeps soundly through the night. His current measurements follow:

Height: 47.75 inches / 121.5 cm
(37th percentile, U.S.)
Weight: 49 lbs (34th percentile, U.S.)
Waist: 22 inches
Foot length: 7.7 inches
Approx shoe size: 1 US
Clothing size: 6

Ronaldo absolutely loved the birthday package that he received for Christmas. He wears his soccer outfit EVERYDAY!!!!
(This was a replica of the uniform worn by Ronaldo of the Brazil World Cup soccer team.) He takes it off only to let it be washed, and as soon as it is dry he puts it back on again. You have made one boy very very very happy. He is so proud of his ball, his book, and uniform. He was just glowing when he saw all the packages in front of him, and after opening two he was up on his feet and ready to go out and play with his ball, he had forgotten there was MORE! He just didn’t know what to do! He showed off the book you made with great delight and Patrick helped him to read it. Your Christmas box has also arrived and but I did not give it to him straight away so that the excitement will be spaced out a little bit.

Joyce says to send you a great big THANK YOU for the books!
(These were a gift from Angie's parents.) She was thrilled as was her whole class. They love the Usborn “My First 1000 Words” book. They are actually going through now to use many of the pages as their weekly spelling words.

Ronaldo is doing great in class, he got a perfect 10/10 on his spelling test last week, and almost a perfect score in reading comprehension. Joyce is away for a month, and so Ronaldo has a substitute teacher, whom he likes as well, but has to remind me each day how much we miss Joyce. :)

For Christmas one of Ronaldo’s gifts was a bag of marbles. Patrick as well got a bag of marbles. The two of them have played daily for a few hours at time since then!!! Ronaldo just loves them! He’s quite good too. I certainly can’t beat him, but then I guess that’s not saying much. :)

Ronaldo took a trip the Baptist Haiti Mission with a couple of his buddies late last month. He had lunch in the restaurant, went to the zoo, and checked out the museum. He loved playing with Fifi & Charlie, the zoo monkeys. He fed the rabbits and watched the peacocks spread their wings. He loved the museum this time. I don’t recall if I have ever taken him in there before. This time he studied each thing with big eyes and his mouth open. Off and on he would point and ask what something was, or exclaim how big the tarantula was!! He was a big help with the younger boys that went, held their hands, guided them off the road, and explained things to them about the animals in the zoo, since he was the veteran visitor. :)

I hope you have a great week!

Blessings,
Molly
